We finally hung all of the new backdrops and I thought it would be fun to show everyone how things are set up now. I’m so lucky to have a such a sweet husband! He spent his weekend working on the studio and I can’t thank him enough! Luckiest girl in the world!!!

I recently returned from a visit with my 90 year old Grandparents. It was a wonderful visit. I’m always amazed at how quickly I regress to a little girl the minute that I see them. Even though my Grandma is 90, in my mind I see her as that 60 year old Grandma who loved to go camping, travel and cook for the ones she loves. The Grandma with the softest skin and the sweetest smile. My Grandma makes each of us feel like we are the most special grandchild in the world. In fact we’ve all had heated discussions of who REALLY is her favorite (of course I’m sure it’s me). It takes a special kind of woman to make people feel loved the way she does. The image below is a wonderful example of that love. I was blessed to have captured it and to be able to share it with you. See, the image below is of my Grandma and Grandpa. Grandpa has Alzheimer’s and he has been in the VA home for a little over a year now. For the most part he doesn’t recognize many of his family members. In fact on most days when he sees you he just smiles sweetly as if he has just met a new potential friend. But as you can see his demeanor changes the minute that he sees my Grandma. He relaxes at the touch of her hand and he looks at her like he has just seen the most beautiful woman in the world. It’s amazing to me that even after 69 years of marriage, illness and separation their love is as strong as ever. We can all only hope to be blessed with that kind of love in our lifetime.

Well, I can finally post my family picture now that I have a sneak peek up for all of my 2010 clients. It has been a wonderful year full of blessings in so many ways. I can’t thank all of you enough for your support and confidence in Alicia’s Photography. We truly appreciate each and every one of you! We hope you all had a Happy Holiday Season! Happy New Year!

Naperville Chicago Photography Studio…Grand Opening Success!

I know that this post is so belated! I’m not sure what we were thinking by having a grand opening during our busiest season! I’ve been dying to get some of these pictures posted from Friday nights grand opening but have been inundated with sessions. So…it’s about time for me to thank each and every one of you for coming to celebrate our opening. We had well over 80 people stop by during the evening!! I was completely taken aback by all of the wonderful friends, family and photography families that stopped in and celebrated with us. You know that I love you all!! I wish I had more pictures to share but of all things this photographer forgot to take pictures . I was so caught up with friends and wonderful conversation that it completely slipped my mind to take some photos of the event. Thankfully my sweet daughter picked up the camera and snapped a few images of the evening (please excuse the fact that most of the pictures are of her and her friends ). Nonetheless, it was so thoughtful of her to pick up where I obviously had failed. Love you darlin!!!

I do have to give a standing O to Kris Warren and her uber talented daughter Tory of KWarren Designs for their amazing catering skills. Everyone is still talking about their culinary delights . If you need floral arrangements for the holidays or for a special event he is your man.

Naperville Chicago Photography Studio…New Studio

My sweet little friend Lola and her mom and dad gave me this incredible key chain for my bday. The date inscribed is the date that we will be opening our new studio (soft opening) and the saying is my slogan. So meaningful and thoughtful! I love these guys so much! Things are running a bit behind with the studio opening but we are still plugging along. I’m so excited to announce the opening and can’t wait to post pictures of our new digs. It’s looking beautiful!!! Better than I ever expected thanks to my wonderful husband. He has been working so hard to keep us on schedule. Even with our son being in the hospital and all he has done a great job. Thanks honey for having faith and persistance!! You’re the best and I love you ! Stay tuned for the big opening.

Naperville Chicago Photographer…Weathered Beauty

I wanted to sneak in a post of a picture that I took in Colorado while on spring break. It was so amazingly beautiful up in the mountains that I just couldn’t stop taking pictures. This particular picture was taken in a semi-ghost town called Silver Plume. The name of the town was chosen when Stephen Decatur, editor of Georgetown’s ‘Colorado Miner’ was shown this feathery silver ore in a plume like shape. Laden with silver deposits, the Georgetown and Silver Plume area quickly became known for its ability to make people wealthy. And while the precious mineral in the hills remains, its great value has diminished. However, the area is still rich with one thing: history. I will post more pictures of Silver Plume as I edit them. You will be sure to see why this town has grabbed hold of my heart and won’t let go. The towns history oozes from ever false front building, fence post, dirt road, mountain peak and towns person. If you’re ever in the area I highly recommend that you stop and enjoy the scenery.

Chicago Children’s Photographer…Spring Dance

Can I just say that having teens is soooo expensive! I have just spent the past few days shopping with my 2 oldest children for clothing for their spring dance. My son needed a new suit, shirt, tie, and belt. My daughter a dress, alterations, shoes, jewelry, and a hair appointment. Not to mention that the spring dance is officially called the “turnabout dance”. So that means that we pay for the dance tickets ($40), dinner for my daughter and her date along with a corsage and boutinierre. Ouch!!! $1000 later and I’m broke worn out and wishing that I had spread my children out a bit. Having two children that are 15 months apart is tough on the pocket book. I guess I better stop whining and get busy working .

Now that I’m finished complaining I guess it wouldn’t be a post without including a picture. I’m going to include a picture from one of last years spring shoots. I’m so excited that spring is right around the corner and this picture gets me in the mood. These girls are just beautiful and I just love the colors and bare little toes.

Naperville Children’s Photographer…I Need Your Opinion

I need your help! I have had this picture of my son for 3 years and still haven’t printed it because I can’t decide which one I like better. I never have a problem helping others decide what pictures to select but when it comes to my children suddenly I lose all ability. I’ve decided to put it out there and let you help me decide. Please, please, please give me your opinion or this will be one of those pictures that is held captive in my computer forever. I have too many of those as it is . Please help set it free!

Chicago Professional Photographer…No Regrets

As most of you know we took the plunge into kitty ownership over the holidays. It took us many years to make that decision. We endured the begging and the whining or our daughter for nearly 10 years before we finally caved. We had so many concerns about owning a kitten. Who will clean the kitty litter, will it claw the furniture, will it keep us up all night, will our dog welcome the new kitten? The list goes on and on. Well after all of the years of excuses and all of our concerns, I have to admit we have no regrets. Harlow our new kitten has been wonderful. He adds a little excitement to our lives that we didn’t even know that we were missing and oh…, the love and affection is endless. Here are some pictures of my daughter snuggling with her “baby” over the weekend. Obviously all my concerns were for nothing. Maybe we should have done this sooner?
